The obverse features a laureate armored bust of Peter the Great facing right with Cyrillic legend reading 'ЦАРЬ ПЕТР АЛЕКСЕЕВИЧ ВСЕЯ РОСИИ САМОДЕРЖЕЦ' (Tsar Peter Alekseevich Autocrat of All Russia). The reverse displays the Russian double-headed eagle with crown above and the legend 'МОНЕТА НОВАЯ РУБЛЯ' (New Money Ruble) with the date НННН (1718) at the bottom.
