Seated Liberty Half Dollar 1856

50¢ (Half Dollar) · Silver .900

This is an 1856-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar struck at the New Orleans Mint, as indicated by the 'O' mintmark visible below the eagle on the reverse. The obverse features Liberty seated on a rock holding a pole with a liberty cap, with a shield at her side inscribed 'LIBERTY' and 13 stars surrounding. The coin displays excellent detail with only slight wear on the high points, suggesting an About Uncirculated grade with attractive original luster remaining.
